Landscape Transformation - Structured, Practical, and Cohesive

This landscape design project in Rotorua, focused on strengthening the structure of the landscape while improving usability, flow, and privacy across multiple levels of the property.
The existing rock wall was carefully replanted to reintroduce greenery and soften the hard surfaces, helping it sit more naturally within the garden. To enhance privacy and long-term structure, new hedging was installed, supported by purpose-built under-planting to properly establish and protect the pleached hedge line.
Access between levels was improved with the construction of new paving and steps, creating a clear and practical connection to the lower areas of the property. MCA sleeper edging was used throughout to define spaces cleanly and manage level changes in a durable, understated way.
At the rear of the property, a raised ready-lawn area was formed and finished with stepping stones for easy access to the utility area and visual interest. A recycled oak sleeper feature, built to the owner’s design, adds character and a unique focal point within the garden.
In the lower utility lawn area, raised garden beds and a new concrete pathway were installed to improve function and organisation, turning a previously underutilised space into a practical and tidy part of the landscape.
New lawns were established throughout to tie the entire project together, resulting in a cohesive outdoor environment that balances structure, greenery, and everyday usability.
